US open 2010 tennis

The 2010 U.S. Open at Flushing Meadows is upon us. Last year, Melanie Oudin made a miracle run to the quarters while Serena Williams took a bizarre exit after a foot fault in the semis sparked a tantrum directed at the line judge. Well, this year Serena's on the sideline for a foot injury and the same line judge is back on the court.

Rafael Nadal, the man who has been trying to conquer the hard courts of the US Open for almost eight years now, is the top seed at the US Open 2010. Having won all the other Grand Slams at least once, his eyes are now on the Flushing Meadows title, and should he add it to his resume, he will also have completed his Career Grand Slam. Though his past record is not that great at the US Open (he has failed to get past the semis), this year might be the year that he changes that. Back to back Grand Slam wins at the French Open and the Wimbledon means that the World Number 1 is sky high on confidence, and indeed this might be his best chance for his first US Open title.
