On November 5th, citizens of Great Britain observe Guy Fawkes Day, which commemorates the failure of Gunpowder Plot in 1605, in which a party of Roman Catholic conspirators, led by Robert Catesby, tried to blow up Parliament in London. 


The group of Roman Catholics were angered with James I and his choice to oppose religious freedom. 

While Fawkes played a minor role in the conspiracy, happenstance made his name closely associated with the event.
