Following is an English translation of the Letter to Hitler from 1933

"Dear Reichskanzler,


…The Brooklyn headquarter of the Watchtower Society is pro German
in an exemplary way and has been so for many years. For that reason, in
1918, the president of the Society and seven members of the board of
directors were sentenced to 80 years in prison, because the president
refused to use two of the magazines published in America under his
direction for war propaganda against Germany. These two magazines, "The
Watchtower" and "Bible Student" were the only magazines in America which
refused to engage in anti-German propaganda and for that reason were
prohibited and suppressed in America during the war.



In the very same manner, in course of the recent months the board of
directors of our Society not only refused to engage in propaganda
against Germany, but has even taken a position against it. The enclosed
declaration underlines this fact and emphasizes that the people leading
in such propaganda (Jewish businessmen and Catholics) also are the most
rigorous persecutors of the work of our Society and its board of
directors. This and other statements of the declaration are meant to
repudiate the slanderous accusation, that Bible Researchers are
supported by the Jews.


… The conference of five thousand delegates also noted - as is expressed in the declaration - that the
Bible Researchers of Germany are fighting for the very same high
ethical goals and ideals which also the national government of the
German Reich proclaimed respecting the relationship of humans to God, namely: honesty of the created being towards its creator.



The conference came to the conclusion that there are no contradictions
when it comes to the relationship between the Bible Researchers of
Germany to the national government of the German Reich. To the contrary,
referring to the purely religious and unpolitical goals and efforts of
the Bible Researchers, it can be said that these are in full agreement
with the identical goals of the national government of the German Reich.


… We are looking forward to your kind approval, which we hope
to receive soon, and want to assure our highest respect to you,
honorable Mr. Reichskanzler.

The declaration of facts was reprinted in the Yearbook 1934 pp.134-138. It went on to state in part:

"It is falsely charged by our enemies that we have received financial
support for our work from the Jews. Nothing is farther from the truth.

contributed to our work by Jews. We are the faithful followers of Christ
Jesus and believe upon Him as the Savior of the world, whereas the Jews entirely reject Jesus

that we receive no support from Jews and that therefore the charges
against us are maliciously false and could proceed only from Satan, our

commercial Jews of the British-American empire that have built up and
carried on Big Business as a means of exploiting and oppressing the

of New York which says: The Jews own it, the Irish Catholics rule it,
and the Americans pay the bills.




The present government of Germany has declared emphatically against Big
Business oppressors and in opposition to the wrongful religious
influence in the political affairs of the nations. Such is exactly our
position.




Instead of being against the principles advocated by the government of Germany, we stand squarely for such principles,
and point out that Jehovah God through Christ Jesus will bring about
the full realization of these principles and will give to the people
peace and prosperity and the greatest desire of every honest heart.




A careful examination of our books and literature will disclose the fact
that the very high ideals held and promulgated by the present national
government are set forth in and endorsed and strongly emphasized in our
publications and show that Jehovah God will see to it that these high
ideals in due time will be attained by all persons who love

League of Nations compact that laid upon the shoulders of the German
people the great unjust and unbearable burdens. That the League of
Nations compact was not brought forth by the friends of Germany."

Plans for Pope Pius XII museum revealed

Rome, Italy, June 15 (CNA/EWTN News)
.- A leading Italian politician is giving his support to plans for a
museum in Rome to commemorate the memory of the wartime pontiff, Pope
Pius XII.

"I've
taken on the impetus of this important idea that wishes to give the
proper place in history to this great Pope," Italian Senator Stefano De
Lillo told CNA.

"During
his life he was exalted by all, and at the time of his death the Prime
Minister of Israel, Golda Meir, said that he died a 'grande giusto' – a
'great, just man.'"

The
plans for the museum are at an early stage but they have already been
discussed at an international conference organized by Sen. De Lillo this
month. The idea has also gained the support of the former Italian Prime
Minister Giulio Andreotti.

One
of the biggest stumbling blocks, however, is the continually recycled
accusation that Pope Pius didn't do enough during the war to save Jews
from persecution. Sen. De Lillo hopes the new museum can help set the
record straight.

"There
are so many writings from Italian and Roman Jews who thank the Pope for
having permitted them to seek refuge in convents, institutes and
churches throughout Rome. It is estimated that at least 5,000 people
were saved through the direct action of the Pope."

"We
can say that a museum of this type can help give back a just historical
truth, in full harmony with our elder brothers of the Jewish religion,
with whom our rapport is extremely good," the Italian lawmaker said.

The
museum idea was initially given to Sen. De Lillo by the 90-year-old New
Jersey nun, Sister Margherita Marchione, who has been campaigning since
1995 to clear the name of Pope Pius XII. In fact, over the past 16
years she's become one of his leading biographers.

Sen.
De Lillo says the museum would "bring together all of the documentation
that the sister possesses, along with other documentation possessed by
other sites."

He also wants to mark what he sees as the bravery and loyalty of Pope Pius towards the citizens of Rome during the war.

"Thanks
to Pope Pius XII, Rome was declared an 'open city' during the Second
World War so it was prohibited by an international convention to bomb
the city," Sen. De Lillo recalled.

Actually
both before and after the granting of this status in 1943, Rome was
bombed by both Allied and Axis powers. But unlike the Italian king,
Victor Emmanuel III, and the country's dictator, Benito Mussolini, who
fled Rome due to the threat of bombing, Pope Pius XII remained in the
city throughout.

"After
the war, the citizens and the city of Rome put up a plaque in Pius XII
Square near the Vatican thanking the Pope for having saved Rome," the
senator noted.

The
Romans also honored him with the title "Defensor Civitatis" or
"Defender of the City," which is the name Senator De Lillo would like to
give to the new museum.

28-Year-Old Priest Was a Sports Fan Known for His Joy

BERLIN, Germany, JUNE 13, 2011 (Zenit.org).- Father Alois Abdritzki was killed in Dachau in 1943, when he was 28, simply because he was a Catholic priest.






Now, he is recognized as Blessed Alois, after he was beatified today
in the German Diocese of Dresden-Meissen, in a ceremony led by Cardinal
Angelo Amato, prefect of the Congregation for Saints' Causes.






The Pope mentioned the beatification after praying the Regina Caeli on Sunday.






The postulator of his beatification cause, Andrea Ambrosi, told ZENIT
that Father Abdritzki was seen by his fellow prisoners as a saint, and
that he died with that reputation.






"His attitude was to cement his faith in an ever joyful attitude," Ambrosi explained. "Because of this, everyone loved him."

Healthy spirit

Alois Abdritzki was born in 1914 in
Radibor, a small village in eastern Germany on the border with Poland.
His family was part of a small percentage of Catholics who lived in the
area inhabited by immigrants from Slav countries.

At 20 he entered the faculty of theology of the archbishopric's
academy of Padeborn. While there he showed interest in philosophy and
pedagogy. He went on to seminary in Bautzen and was ordained a deacon in
1938 and a priest the year afterward. His priestly work focused
particularly on youth ministry.






"He was a humble, simple priest always ready to help his neighbor,"
Ambrosi said. "In addition, he loved sports and he constantly said that a
healthy spirit dwells in a vigorous body."






In the winter of 1941, after he had organized a theater production, Father Andritzki was arrested.






"From an eyewitness we know that at the end of the play the Gestapo
arrived, and he had to write down the names of all those present.
Chaplain Andritzki was being particularly watched, so much so that after
being threatened he was summoned to the barracks and then arrested,"
the postulator explained.






After his arrest, Father Alois remained under precautionary custody.
But, the postulator said, it is thought he made statements against the
Nazi regime and thus could not go unpunished.






The prosecutors built a case to "silence a priest who gave ardent
witness of his faith," as this "was intolerable for the National
Socialist regime."






Hence, he was sent by the Gestapo to the political prison of Dresden,
where he stayed for two months. When he had completed his sentence,
instead of being released, he was taken to the Dachau concentration
camp.






His family appealed for justice. His father Johann Andritzki wrote a
moving letter to the high security office of the Reich in Berlin,
requesting that his son be released because there were no longer any
charges against him. However, his effort was in vain.






Father Alois was killed Feb. 3, 1943. According to Gestapo reports,
he died of abdominal typhus but in fact, after he recovered in the
infirmary, he was given a lethal injection.






His testimony seemed like balsam for those in the concentration camp.
"In the terror in which all lived in the Dachau concentration camp,"
Ambrosi noted, "it was said of Alois that whoever saw him in the
morning, remained full of joy the rest of the day."

NEW YORK, NOV. 2, 2010 (Zenit.org).- A Jewish man is giving testimony to how his father was saved from the Nazis by being hidden in the Vatican by Pope Pius XII.

This testimony is the latest collected by Pave the Way Foundation, which has been compiling documents and reports regarding the actions of Pius XII during World War II.

Gary Krupp, the foundation's president, announced the latest testimony by Robert Adler, a member of the Alabama Holocaust Commission.

Adler recalled how his father, Hugo Adler, was taken into the Vatican in 1941 and was hidden for five weeks. During that time, he met personally with Pope Pius XII on several occasions.

Hugo was then sent through a Vatican network through France, into Spain, and then to Sosua, Dominican Republic.

Robert said in his testimony that he found through research that the Nazis planned to first annihilate the Jews and then the Catholics. He noted that, due to this fact, the Pontiff conducted the rescue efforts in secret.

He concluded that his father would have died if Pius XII had not intervened.

Krupp expressed gratitude for Adler's testimony, affirming that "his coming forward with this most revealing recollection, has paid back an enormous debt owed to all of those who risked their lives by reaching out to save the victims to the Shoah."

The foundation has posted some 40,000 documents along with video testimonies on its Web site to provide evidence about the role of Pius XII in World War II.

Elliot Hershberg, chairman of the foundation's board, noted: "This effort has been a hugely expensive and arduous undertaking for [Pave the Way Foundation] but it has been well worth it.



"In accordance with our mission, if we can help to illuminate this controversial period, which has been a source of discord between Jews and Catholic for over 46 years, we will have helped to change the course of history and improve relations at a time this is so necessary."

1. Again, this is simply restating the very statement in question. You clearly can't defend the assertion that questioning the holocaust neccessarily implies support for Nazism because it's not true. Nenver will you find a statement from His Lordship Bishop Williamson supporting, in any way, the ideology of Adolf Hitler or the Nazis.

That is entirely beside the point (though I do not agree with it, for the 'record').

My point was clearly that his views specifically on the holocause do not exclude him, or anyone, from being a good Catholic. It is not a matter of Faith, therefore it cannot be heresy.

You then go on to say some more unrelated business about the "excommunication". Again you missed the point, which was that EVEN IF THEY WERE VALID, which you clearly believe them to have been, the SSPX bishops are not outside the Church because they have been lifted. Also, even if their ministries are illicit (which I know means 'illegal'), that does not place them outside the Church, as the Holy See has said.

It is a Catholic dogma that there is no salvation whatsoever outside the Catholic Church. This is unrelated to your original post about Bishop Williamson, you brought it up only to irrationally attack the SSPX.

Archbishop Lefebvre having died with an "excommunication" does not mean that he cannot be saved by the standards of the SSPX (which are the same as those of the Catholic Church) because the SSPX disputes the validity of those excommunications. Interestingly, Saint Joan of Arc also died while "excommunicated".

1. Yes, he is honest, had he not been honest he would have lied about what he believed.

2. He apologized for the imprudence of stating these things on television and for the trouble that the fuss caused for His Holiness the Pope, not because of what he believes.

The SSPX criticizes those things which Pope Paul VI and Archbishop Bugnini objectively did wrong by the standards of what the Catholic Church has always taught. You and the other commentators made purely uncharitable comments, such as "I WANT TO VOMIT AGAIN LOOKING AT HIS PICTURE", and "I want to print it and his picture would be my target in target shooting."

They explained, "The current charge claims that in a presentation Pius XII gave at an International Eucharistic Congress in Hungary in 1938 -- when he was still Eugenio Pacelli, Vatican secretary of state -- he referred to Jews as enemies of Christ and the Catholic Church."

Misquoted

The article reported: "The critics claim that on May 25, 1938, just after the Anschluss (the German annexation of Austria), but before the Shoah or even the outbreak of World War II, Pacelli said: 'Jesus conquers! He who so often was the recipient of the rage of his enemies, he who suffered the persecutions of those of whom he was one, he shall be triumphant in the future as well … As opposed to the foes of Jesus, who cried out to his face, 'Crucify him!' we sing him hymns of our loyalty and our love. We act in this fashion, not out of bitterness, not out of a sense of superiority, not out of arrogance toward those whose lips curse him and whose hearts reject him even today.'"

The scholars noted that "one major critic of Pius, Moshe Y. Herczl, claimed that Pacelli was clearly assailing Jews." This claim was echoed by critics Michael Phayer and John Cornwell.

However, the authors said, "there is reason to be suspicious of this quotation, and the anti-Semitic interpretation applied to it."

They continued: "First, no one at the time thought that Pacelli was speaking of Jews. He spoke of the 'military godless' and those who wanted to 'impose a new Christianity,' statements applicable only to the Communists and Nazis."

"Second, look at the quotation the papal critics use," the scholars pointed out. "One has to wonder what the ellipsis is replacing."

They added, "Despite the importance of this quotation to the argument of many Papal critics, it seems that none of them traced it back to its origin."

Original source

The scholars reported: "With the assistance of Vatican historian (and relator of Pope Pius XII's sainthood cause) Father Peter Gumpel, we reviewed the text of the speech as it was published in "Discorsi e Panegirici." The quote as given by the critics does not appear therein.

"The ellipsis was used to link very diverse passages from different pages of Pacelli's speech, producing a complete distortion of Pacelli's words. (To be certain that we were not overlooking anything, we reviewed transcripts from all seven of the talks he gave in Hungary)."

The article explained that "early in the talk, Pacelli spoke about biblical history. He recalled the Passion of Christ, and he mentioned the defiance of disciples, the solitude of Gethsemane, the crowning of thorns, the cynicism of Herod, and the opportunism of Pilate."

It noted that "he referred to the masses that called for the Crucifixion and said they had been 'deceived and excited by propaganda, lies, insults and imprecations at the foot of the Cross.'

The article affirmed: "Those identified as enemies of Christ included Pontius Pilate, Herod, the Roman soldiers, the Sanhedrin, and their followers. He did not call out 'all Jews' or 'the Jews.'"

"About two pages later in the manuscript," the scholars reported, "Pacelli referred to those who were persecuting the Church at that time by doing things like expelling religion and perverting Christianity."

Nazi persecution

"Jews were not doing this, but Nazi Germany certainly was," they asserted. "The future Pope was clearly equating the Nazis, not Jews, to those who persecuted the Church at earlier times."

The article continued: "Pacelli then returned to the theme of Christ's sufferings during the Passion which were being repeated against the Mystical Body of Christ in modern times, contrasting them with the Church's offering of love: 'Let us replace the cry of 'Crucify' made by Christ's enemies, with the 'Hosanna' of our fidelity and our love.'

"Pacelli was rebuking the totalitarians of his day, not the Jews of earlier times."

"Nowhere in the address did he mention or single out Jews as the specific, much less sole, enemies of Jesus Christ, past or present," it asserted. "There is no legitimate way to argue that Pacelli was blaming Jews when he spoke about the enemies of Christ."

The article asked, "Where did the distorted quotation come from?"

It added that "Herczl was not present at the speech and did not even look at Pacelli's script" or "even the Italian version that appeared in the Vatican newspaper."

The scholars noted that "in his book, he cited a Hungarian newspaper, Nemzeti Ujsag (National Journal), with a long and controversial history as a political outlet."

Anti-Semitic

They continued: "As its name implies and as numerous articles in the newspaper itself attest, Nemzeti Ujsag was a political journal, not a religious one.

"It was, at least in the relevant years, overtly anti-Semitic and truly despicable. Randolph L. Braham, a noted scholar in the field, called it a voice of National Socialism."

The authors posited: "It is likely that the newspaper manufactured the quotation to support its anti-Semitic position.

"Pacelli, after all, was criticizing the exact political position the paper held. Then as now, Vatican support was a very useful thing to claim."

"Herczl and those who followed him should have been skeptical of this source," they asserted. "Neither he nor anyone else would have accepted what that paper said about Jews, yet with several other reliable sources available, why did he turn to an unreliable source for this crucial information about Pacelli?"

"More importantly," the authors added, "why have critics like Phayer and Cornwell simply repeated the charge, relying upon this English translation of a Hebrew translation from a Hungarian translation of a speech originally made in French by a native Italian speaker?"

"The manufactured quotation blatantly distorted the words of the future Pope," the article stated.

It continued: "Inasmuch that quote was inconsistent with so much other evidence of Pacelli's character, it should have been strictly scrutinized.

"Instead it was readily accepted and insufficiently analyzed by critics eager to discredit the papacy and the Catholic Church. They should be ashamed."
