ADM Radeon HD 6990 , Review , Feature , Price

AMD introduced its first Radeon HD 6000 graphics card last October, when we reviewed the mid-range Radeon HD 6870. Since then AMD opened up to show its GPU roadmap and the cards that soon thereafter were coming to market.

The high-end Radeon HD 6970 and HD 6950 also arrived late last year, while the dual-GPU version of AMD's last generation graphics series code-named Antilles was expected to arrive shortly after. Coincidentally (or not) both AMD and Nvidia took a few months longer than expected to show its hardcore dual-GPU graphics cards, with the former making the first move to finally unveil the Radeon HD 6990.

The card is cooled by a vapor chamber heatsink with a central blower styled fan to tame the soaring temperatures. According to some of the early reviews out on the net, the fan isn't quite by any means especially when it's working overtime in games.

Unfortunately, the vast power also implies huge demand for electricity. Let’s face it, but if you wish to purchase a Radeon HD 6990, then first make sure that your power supply is capable of producing at least 750W power. For configurations with two accelerators AMD recommends use AC power until 1200 W.

Radeon HD 6990 “pulls” about 300 watts (requires the installation of two 8-pin plugs, which are able to supply over 150 watts). Perhaps you also interested in price of the new Radeon. Well, you need 699$ in your pocket to buy a new card from AMD.

This is a dual GPU monster will help AMD retain the title of the world's fastest graphics card manufacturer. The AMD HD 6990 is on sale right now in U.S. for $699 (Rs. 31,500) and you can expect the card to hit our shores in the coming weeks for roughly Rs. 35,000 - Rs. 38,000.
