You need to understand that maternal health problems cannot just be solved by medicine, workers or equipment. Kelangan ng birth spacing to avoid risk. Effective ba naman ang NFP na rhythm method? Of all method ito ang pinaka-lousy.
The RH bill does not just prevent unwanted pregnancies but also ensure healthy birth of planned pregnancy. Kung mangmang mga babae, napapariwara kasi walang alam sa pagbubuntis. Your statement on healthy child delivery and nourishment, we are also in favor of that. Ang punto ko wag kang magtago dyan sa mga section ng bill na agree naman kami. You are avoiding the problem that is contraception. You are trying to trivialize it when in fact that is where the problem is. As I said earlier, contraceptives right now are not illegal and can be purchased even in convenience store. Why create a law that will use public funds, our taxes, to buy these contraceptives? If you want your contraceptives, use your own money, not our taxes. Because as a Catholic Christian, I feel insulted that I will help finance something that is contrary to my faith.
Regarding to your question why law should be sensitive to religion, it is because faith can’t be separated from man, man being the object of the law. Regarding to your suggestion that the state be strictly secular, that is impossible. Because even elected officials and witnesses in court swear on the bible. Even the very motto of our country underscores faith in God.

The problem with you is that you just read the Noli Me Tangere but you barely touched the El Filibusterismo. El Fili tells of a humble but intelligent filipino catholic priest by the name of Padre Florentino whom Simoun aka Crisostomo Ibarra trusted. It is Padre Florentino that explained to Simoun why his violent ways of winning independence for the country is doom to fail right from the very start. Rizal attacked the ways of the erring clerics but not the catholic church as an institution. It is very clear in his letter to Blumentritt dated March 05, 1887 and is part of the Guzman-Laksamana-Guzman 5th ed. translation of NoliMe Tangere which is a textbook in high school:

Imbes na condom eh vitamins ang gawing essential medicine sa RH, wala sanang problema. Lalakas pa sila, maiiwasan ang mga sakit at magiging produktibo ang mga pilipino. Bakit condom, IUD at Pills? Bakit ayaw nyong maging malusog ang mga Pilipino at gusto nyo pang pakuntiin?
May inherent mandate ang DOH at BFAD na sawatahin ang mga nagtitinda ng mga abortifacients. Hindi na kailangan ng panibagong batas para dyan. At kung may nagtitinda man ng abortifacient sa quiapo church, walang kaugnayan yun sa simbahang katoliko. Unlike sa mga kabaro mong protestante sa US na prochoice daw pero pro abortion.
Tsaka kaya nga may NFP eh na isinusulong sa mga parokya led by the parishes and basic ecclesiastical communities. Nagsasagawa sila ng mga seminars at trainings sa mga mag asawa para maiwasan yung sinasabi mo about aspirin at sa sabon.

Wag nyo kaming idamay sa kaignorantehan nyo dahil alam namin na ang buhay ay nagsisimula sa fertilization. Kung kaya ang zygote ay nararapat na maging free from any human intervention in the course of its development. Wala dapat pills at IUD na pumipigil sa implantation ng fertilized egg sa uterus.
Tsaka how can you say that the Catholic Church is promoting ignorance when in fact, the church has established many schools, research centers, and libraries, far more than your sect had established. The university system is a catholic initiative in the middle ages. Walang papel dun mga protestante. We have contributed in science and technology far more than your sect. Kaya wag mong baliktarin ang sitwasyon.

Tsaka di uubra yang red herring mo. Contraceptives ang usapan dito eh bakit dinadala mo sa baril et al? Contraceptives are morally evil because it veers from God’s intention that couples should be his partners in bringing forth new life. Yung baril et al eh immoral kung gagamitin sa pagkitil ng inosenteng buhay. Pero kung gagamitin upang protektahan ang buhay ng nakakarami, hindi. Yung contraceptives, inherently evil kasi dinesenyo para yung mag asawa eh patuloy na mag enjoy sa sarap ng sex but in the process, eh maiwasan ang responsibilidad na maging instrumento ng Diyos sa paglikha ng buhay. Hindi na nasusunod yung God’s will kundi yung carnal desires nung tao. Anti life, kaya yan mali.

FRANZ: The bible is a catholic book and was compiled by Catholic Councils way back in the 4th century. Hindi yan basta lumitaw na lang out of thin air, arranged na from genesis to revelation with chapters and verses. Even with your so-called secular approach, you can’t entirely separate religion from law. If the law respects Muslim and protestant beliefs, it should also respect the catholic faith and its teachings on the value of human life.

What I showed to you is an excerpt from his letter to Blumentritt dated March 05,1887 and is part of Rizal’s dedication of his novel Noli Me Tangere to his old friend. You can readily verify it in 5th edition of Guzman-Laksamana-Guzman translation of Noli Me Tangere which is a textbook in high school.

It shows that Rizal is never against the Catholic Church as an institution but rather to the ways of erring clerics of his time. That’s why I find it funny you are using Rizal to promote your anti catholic position. You are very wrong because the man died as a catholic. Not as a protestant.
