WHY THE DEFENSORES FIDEI FOUNDATION OPPOSES THE RH BILL, revised

The Madonna and Child

Why We Oppose the RH Bill

  • By mandating the distribution of contraceptives (House Bill 96 Secs. 7, 9, 10, 18, 20, 22-23; Senate Bill Secs. 7, 9, 10, 12, 15, 17-19; also please take note of definitions of reproductive health, family planning, and modern family planning methods and of the statement of policy supporting both natural and artificial methods of family planning without bias), a lot of which are abortifacients, the RH bill violates the right to life from the moment of conception. In short, under the RH bill, millions will be killed.
  • Furthermore, by promoting contraception and direct sterilization, the bill runs contrary to the natural moral law.
  • The RH bill will make criminals out of Catholics who will speak out against the bill and who will refuse to implement its provisions. (House Bill 96 Sec. 22-23; Senate Bill 2378 Sec. 18-19)
  • Under the RH bill, sexual promiscuity will be subsidized by the government and employers. (HB 96 Secs 7, 9, 12, 18; SB 2378 Sec. 7, 15. Also please take note definition of terms under both bills.)
  • The bill discriminates against women since in the implementation of the bill, it will be mostly the women who will have to bear the health risk of pills, injectibles, ligations, and IUDs so that the men can enjoy safe sex.
  • Under the RH bill, parents will lose their authority over their children when it comes to sex education as the bill prescribes mandatory sex education starting Grade V up to Fourth Year High School. (HB 96 Sec 13; SB 2378 Sec. 13)
  • The RH bill undermines unity between spouses as it will allow one spouse to undergo a ligation or a vasectomy without the consent of the other. (HB 96 Sec. 22 (a) (2); SB 2378 Sec 18 (A) (2) )
