Samsung internal people leaked the information that, Samsung is working on HD screen display bearing smartphone that would run Google Android operating system, reported Italian Telephonio.
According to the website and Samsung people, Samsung plans to bring six Android based handsets in coming year 2011 and 2012. Samsung will also bring two distinct devices one with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and other with Own Operating system called Bada OS on it. These are just the plans and the specifications may change a bit in future.
For the lucrative entry-level segment, Samsung will introduce one entry level handset GT-5360 that will come with 3 inch display (240x320) and have 2 megapixel camera. A pleasant surprise is that this device will run Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
Another surprise is the entry-level Samsung GT-S5610 handset that will come with 2.4 inch display, 5 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 3.0 and will run Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
Next follows a 3.7 inch display bearing Samsung GT-i8150 handset with 480x800 pixel resolution, which will run on an Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update. This handset will feature a fast 1.4GHz fast processor and 4 GB internal memory. Featuring 5 megapixel camera, this handset will be capable of recording 720p HD video.
Samsung will continue the Galaxy S II legacy with two more similar handsets. The Samsung GT-i9210 will feature 4.5 inch display with 480x800 pixel resolution and hold 16 GB worth on board memory. This handset will have Android 2.3.3 running by default. At the back will be 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and in the front will be a 2 megapixel camera for video chat. Packing 1750mAh battery, the GT-i9210 will feature Bluetooth 3.0, GPS and WiFi for wireless connectivity.
In the coming months, Samsung will introduce two Android 2.3.3 running smartphones that will feature 720p HD displays. The GT-i9220 has a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display sporting 1280x720p HD resolution. This monster screen will be powered with dual core 1.4GHz processor and imaging is powered with 8 megapixel camera, which we presume will record 1080p HD video as well.
Previously we reported about Samsung working on a glassless 3D display bearing smartphone and specifications of the GT-i9220 are quite similar to that handset.
Samsung has promised a Galaxy III handset which is likely to be this GT-i9250 handset since it packs top of the line hardware. Promising a 4.65 inch display Super AMOLED display with 1280x720 pixel resolution, this handset will be certainly noted as the smartphone-tablet. Just like the Dell Streak, this smartphone will run the Android Ice Cream Sandwich update but shocks us with mere 5 megapixel camera. This device would either be the Galaxy S III or the Google Nexus Prime.
Besides Android Gingerbread devices, Samsung will also bring Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update running GT-i8350 handset which will be branded as Omnia W. Even the Bada OS family will get a new GT-S8600 handset equipped with 4 inch Super AMOLED display, Bluetooth 3.0 and 5 megapixel camera.
As of now, these specifications are merely 'on paper' and can change a bit over period of time. There was no release timeline available for each handset but it appears Samsung certainly wants to sell loads of handsets with over 4 inch Super AMOLED displays. Samsung's roadmap includes three Super AMOLED displays bearing handset so it appears that the supply of those handsets will be higher. Let's hope it is backed by good software support.
